Shared housing: an option for seniors
« As expats in Belgium approach retirement age, many are loath to give up the quality of life they’ve come to appreciate after several years of making a life here, or the close friendships they’ve formed in their adopted home. Just ask Ann Auger, a retired schoolteacher from the British School of Brussels. She and her husband live in the East Flemish town of Moorsel in the home they moved into 30 years ago and where they raised two daughters.
Both children are now grown up and living elsewhere, one in Australia and the other in the US, prompting their parents to start thinking about where they would like to live in a few years’ time – particularly if they stay in Belgium. »
